Balls!!!

I finally got hold of some omniballs for my feet from outwaterplastics
The large centre foot one needed a bit of doctoring so that it connected properly to the A&A parts but now my R2 moves around a lot more freely and securely

Celebration Europe - Excel July 13th-15th 2007

I took my R2 down to CE this weekend and joined up with fellow builders (Jeff, Oliver, Arnd, Mark, Steve and Wim) in the Droid Builders Room
I got to meet Kenny Baker, Don Bies, Daniel Deutsch and Albin Johnson

A bit more progress on the feet

I've now added casters to the feet and put R2 in the 3 legged position. Centre foot needs a fair bit more work and now just need the shells

A&A Feet Internals

 
The A&A feet motor holders came today and I've fitted them to my scooter motors. Hopefully Andy will be completing his A&A feet surrounds soon

Over the Easter weekend I made some feet out of MDF. They will do for now but will hopefully be replaced at some stage with pvc ones from A&A

Spinning Around

I have now connected the dome, Rockler bearing and the Atomic Pickle drive motor so now R2's head can spin....



It is only using a 9v battery in this test but spins at a decent speed

UK Robot Day

Today I took my droid down to the UK Robot Day organised by Steve Cole of Articole Studios.
It was good to meet up with fellow robot builders and seeing their robots including R2 units, K-9s, Daleks,Bender and a bar tender robot!

As you can see here it was a bit of a squeeze getting my R2 into the Z
